Birth Doula Services in Singapore
A curated sanctuary for your birth journey.
Bridging clinical expertise and deep emotional presence, uniquely personalised to your family's rhythm, with the rare perspective of a European-trained midwife certified as a birth doula.

What's a doula?
A doula is a trained non-medical professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a woman before, during and just after birth. A doula does not replace your medical team. She complements it, so you feel heard, respected, and never alone.
Having continuous support in labour isn't only comforting. It changes outcomes. A landmark 2017 Cochrane review synthesising 26 studies with over 15,000 women found that families supported by a trained doula experienced:
decrease in use of synthetic oxytocin (syntocinon)
decrease in risk of cesarean
increase in likelihood of spontaneous vaginal birth
decrease in use of pain medication
decrease in newborn NICU admission
decrease in dissatisfaction with birth experience

Your journey with me, step by step.
Hospitals that accept doulas.
Most major hospitals in Singapore welcome certified doulas, including:
- KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH)
- National University Hospital (NUH)
- Thomson Medical Centre
- Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital
- Mount Elizabeth Orchard Hospital
- Gleneagles Hospital
- Parkway East Hospital
- Raffles Hospital
In most of these hospitals, a registered doula does not count towards your limit of birth partners, meaning both your partner and I can be by your side. We discuss your specific hospital's policies during our prenatal visits.
Frequently asked questions.
If your question isn't here, send me a message on WhatsApp. I'm happy to answer personally.
What is a doula and how is it different from a midwife?↓
In Singapore, midwives are typically hospital employees who provide clinical care (monitoring heart rates, exams, administering medication). As a doula, I am hired privately by you. I do not perform clinical tasks; instead, I provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support throughout your labour and birth, ensuring you feel comfortable, advocated for, and serene.
Is a doula only for "natural", unmedicated births?↓
Absolutely not. I support all types of births, including epidurals, inductions, and planned or unplanned cesarean sections. My goal is never to push a specific type of birth, but to ensure you feel informed, respected, and deeply supported regardless of the path your birth takes.
Will a doula replace my partner during birth?↓
Not at all. My role is to support your partner just as much as I support you. I guide them on how to best help you with comfort measures and positioning, allowing them to focus on being emotionally present and deeply connected with you, without the pressure of having to remember everything from classes.
When should I hire a doula in my pregnancy?↓
It is generally recommended to hire a doula between 20 and 24 weeks of pregnancy. This gives us ample time to build a trusting relationship, discuss your birth plan in detail, and ensure you feel completely prepared. I can sometimes accommodate later requests depending on availability.
How do doulas work with doctors and nurses in Singapore hospitals?↓
I work alongside your medical team (OB/GYN, hospital midwives, nurses), offering non-clinical support. I help ensure you feel heard and informed, without interfering with medical decisions. I remain respectful of the staff, welcome in most Singapore hospitals, and discreet during medical procedures.
How does a doula actually help during labour?↓
Hands-on comfort (positions, massage, counter-pressure, TENS, rebozo), emotional grounding, clear guidance for your partner, and an informed presence through the hours, so you feel more in control and cared for.
What happens if my baby is born by unplanned cesarean?↓
In Singapore hospitals, doulas are not permitted inside the operating theatre. I stay with you as long as possible during the decision conversation and the preparation, then wait for you so I can welcome you back and guide you post-cesarean: supporting your first bonding moments, helping with the initial feed, and being present through the early recovery hours.
Which Singapore hospitals allow doulas?↓
Most major hospitals in Singapore welcome certified doulas, including Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Elizabeth (Novena and Orchard), Gleneagles, Parkway East, Raffles, as well as public hospitals KKH and NUH. In most of them, a registered doula does not count towards your limit of birth partners, meaning both your partner and I can be by your side. We discuss your specific hospital's policies during our prenatal visits.
Does insurance cover doula services in Singapore?↓
Some international and expat health insurance plans do reimburse doula support. Policies vary considerably, so I recommend checking with your provider in advance. I can provide a detailed receipt and my practitioner credentials to support your claim.
